It’s that time
of year to participate as a professional artist in the annual The
Art of the Egg: The Annual Egg Design Contest in downtown Evergreen,
Each year the Evergreen Downtown Business
Association (EDBA) sponsors an egg-design contest. As an artist, you are
invited to participate by becoming a professional artist contributor. We have a
business that wants to sponsor you for transforming a white ceramic egg at no
cost to you.
Purpose of the Eggs: The contest’s
purpose is to celebrate spring with a community event, and support activities
in Downtown that bring folks here to shop, eat and enjoy. By volunteering to
paint an egg, you will be will be contributing to our Downtown organization,
which provides multiple events that are free for our community such as the
Halloween and Holiday Walk, but at a financial cost for the businesses and
EDBA. Money raised will go toward providing these wonderful events for the
professional artist you will volunteer your time to paint an egg sponsored by a
local business/association that donates $50 per egg.
The Art of the Eggs: The eggs are
ceramic and may be painted with specialty paints at Go Paint! in Downtown
where it will be fired at that location after painting. For Professional artists, the ceramic eggs may also be painted with
acrylics in your own studio, decorated with image transfers, sculpted, reworked
with a Dremel, etc. What can you dream up? The only rule is that the creation must
start from the original standard egg supplied by Go Paint! If you wish to
design in your own studio, call Karen Belmont, owner of Go Paint! and ask her
to pre-fire the egg before you pick it up. 303-679-3089
The Display of the Eggs: The finished
eggs will be displayed with your name and the sponsor at Evergreen National
Bank from April 3-7.
Main Street Gallery and The Evergreen Gallery will also
show the eggs from April 7-20. Pro eggs are bid on through the month of April. A
Finale Auction Party will be at Main Street on Thursday, April 20, 2017 from
6-7:30 p.m. We encourage you to go!
Silent Auction: People will bid on the Professional Eggs by
silent auction. The bidder with the winning silent auction bid at the end, will
purchase the egg. They may also purchase the egg on the spot for $100.
Winning Eggs: Viewers are asked to select their favorite by
paper ballot. The eggs with the most votes will become the chosen elite and
will receive Evergreen Bucks to spend in downtown businesses. Winners announced
at the Closing of the Eggs Party.
Best in Show: Best in Show,
professionally juried and sponsored by the Evergreen Artists Association.

participate in the Adult Amateur category, in which case you pay $25, must be
painted with Go Paint! ceramic paints, and you may take your egg home at the
end of the display in late April. In this category, you are eligible to win
Evergreen Bucks awards as well.
Other Categories (Must be painted at Go Paint! with the ceramic paints provided to qualify.)
Kids youth category for ages 2-7: $15 to enter.

8-13: $15 to enter
Adult Amateur: age 14 to adult: $25 to enter.
Kids’ and Adult
Amateurs eggs will also be voted on to win Evergreen Bucks and be able to take
the eggs home after the display April 20.
